The Wonderful World Of Internet Dating!

I’ve been really excited to hear that so many of my clients and friends are taking the plunge this year into the world of on-line dating!

Well done – such a great move to make and you should all be proud of yourselves for taking a step toward getting what you want in life.

As many of you may know, I am an avid believer in the wonderful world of internet dating, having met my own fabulous husband on RSVP some five (nearly 6) years ago. Way back then it was real pioneer stuff and many of my friends thought I was crazy (although I did have some great supporters).

Back then it wasn’t something that you would really advertise in case people thought you were some kind of ‘desperate’- my how times have changed.

I never saw myself like that; I simply viewed it as part of my strategy to get what I wanted. It was a ‘tool’ I could use as part of my action plan to get myself a partner. I saw it as a bold move but it was only one of many things I could do to meet someone.

The important thing was that I had made a decision about what I wanted and I truly believed that no matter what I would get what I wanted; I just needed to be brave and go for it... and I did. I’m often asked about my ‘adventures’ on-line dating and I’m happy to share some tips and tales with you – just ask me!

For now, a few thoughts;

• Think of online dating a fun part of your toolbox – treat it as a fun way to meet your potential ideal partner

• Don’t get too stressed about it all – make contact with people you are interested in quickly – don’t let it drag out for weeks.

• Always meet during the day in a prominent location, for example a busy cafe in the city. I used to make it around lunch time so I had a time limit and could politely go ‘back to work’.

• Always tell someone where you are going – I used to pass on all details to a trusted friend and also the date’s name and phone number.

• There are plenty more fish in the sea – never a truer word was spoken! If you don’t get the response you want, move on! There are plenty more to choose from!

• Develop a thick skin – remember for every man that ‘rejects’ you, you have also rejected others through the process. Get over it and don’t dwell on your ‘hurt feelings’ if some guy tells you (nicely) that you are not really his type – see it as a positive! It’s not a popularity competition, you just want to meet the right guy for you, so don’t stress about being everything to everyone.

• Don’t lie about yourself on your profile, put a photo which isn’t true to life or write things to just be provocative or that aren’t you – you want to attract someone that is perfect for you so why act like someone you are not?

• Be genuine, be YOU and BELIEVE you can and you will have what you want!

• Don’t let the process drag out for weeks while you ‘um’ and ‘ah’ about what to do –come on girls!! If you are serious, if you are ‘fair dinkum’ about what you really want just make the decision to get out there and GET IT!

I could go on and on and no doubt I will be back with loads more comments on this subject, as it’s one of my faves!

Most of all have fun and stay positive!
